Punjab Schools to Start Summer Holidays Early Due to Heatwave

Punjab’s Education Minister, Rana Sikandar Hayat, has announced that all public and private schools in the province will begin their summer vacations earlier than originally planned. This change has been made because of the ongoing heatwave that is making the weather extremely hot and unsafe for children.

The summer holidays were supposed to start on June 1, but now they will begin on May 28. The government made this decision after seeing how fast temperatures are rising across Punjab. Many parents and teachers were worried about the health of students, especially younger children, who have to travel to school in the heat.

To make things a little easier for students before the holidays start, the Education Minister also changed school timings. From now until May 27, schools will open early in the morning at 7:30 am and close by 11:30 am. These new timings are meant to avoid the hottest part of the day and reduce the chances of students getting sick from the heat.

Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat shared this update on social media, where he clearly stated the new school hours and the updated vacation dates. The announcement received a lot of attention, with many parents and teachers supporting the move.

The main reason for this decision is to protect children’s health. The province is currently facing very high temperatures, which can cause problems like dehydration, heat exhaustion, or even heatstroke. By sending students on vacation a few days earlier and shortening school hours, the government hopes to reduce these risks.

Authorities are also asking parents to keep children hydrated and indoors as much as possible during this extreme weather. People are advised to avoid outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours and to take care of the elderly and children who are more sensitive to heat.

This early summer break is a precautionary step taken by the Punjab government to ensure that students remain safe and healthy during the intense heatwave.
