The Punjab Education Department has officially issued a notification detailing the revised school timings that will come into effect following the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays. According to the announcement, the new schedule will be implemented starting April 7 and will remain applicable until October 15. These changes are aimed at optimizing the school schedule in line with seasonal variations to ensure a more effective learning environment for students.
Under the revised timings, single-shift schools will commence their academic activities at 8:00 AM and conclude at 1:30 PM from Monday to Thursday and on Saturday. However, on Fridays, schools will operate for a shorter duration, closing at 12:00 PM to allow students and staff to participate in religious obligations.
For institutions operating on a double-shift basis, the first shift will begin at 8:00 AM and continue until 12:30 PM. On Fridays, the first shift will end slightly earlier, at 12:00 PM. The second shift will commence at 1:00 PM and conclude at 5:30 PM on regular working days. However, on Fridays, the second shift will start later at 2:30 PM to accommodate the adjusted Friday schedule.
In addition to the new timing regulations, the Punjab government has also declared the official school closure dates for Eid-ul-Fitr. As per the notification, all schools will remain closed for Eid festivities from March 28 (Friday) to April 6 (Sunday). Regular academic activities are scheduled to resume on April 7, ensuring that students and teachers have ample time to celebrate the occasion with their families before returning to their educational routines.
Moreover, the Education Department has confirmed that the results of the annual examinations will be announced on April 4. This timely release of results will provide students and their parents with essential insights into their academic performance before the commencement of the new school year, allowing them to prepare for the upcoming academic challenges effectively.
Speaking on the changes, the Secretary of the School Education Department emphasized that the extended holiday period aims to facilitate students and educators in celebrating Eid without academic pressures. He highlighted that the decision was made with the well-being of students and teachers in mind, ensuring they return rejuvenated and ready to engage in their studies with renewed focus and energy.
Meanwhile, the Punjab Higher Education Department has also announced Eid holidays for both public and private colleges across the province. According to the notification, all colleges will observe Eid holidays from March 28 (Friday) to April 2 (Wednesday). This initiative ensures uniformity in holiday schedules across various educational institutions, providing both students and faculty members with a well-deserved break to partake in the festive celebrations.
