Punjab Launches Mobile App to Issue Birth, Death, and Marriage Certificates at Home

In a major step toward digital governance, the Punjab Local Government Department has introduced a new mobile application that makes it easy for citizens to get important official documents—such as birth, death, and marriage certificates—without the need to visit any government office.

According to department officials, this mobile app is designed to simplify the entire process. People can now apply for their certificates directly through their smartphones. The app allows users to fill out forms, upload required documents, and pay fees online—without leaving home. After the application is processed, the certificate will be sent to the applicant’s home address via courier.

“This will save people from the hassle of standing in long queues or making repeated visits to government offices,” an official said. “The app is part of our efforts to reduce paperwork, cut down delays, and bring more transparency to the system.”

Officials added that the mobile application is part of the Punjab government’s ongoing digital transformation initiative, which focuses on using technology to improve public services. By reducing human interaction, the app also aims to limit corruption and increase efficiency.

The Local Government Department confirmed that the app will be officially launched in the coming days and will be available for public use shortly after.

“This is a big step forward in making government services more accessible to the public,” said an official. “We want to ensure that people no longer have to waste time or money just to get basic documents. With this app, everything will be available at their fingertips.”

The app is expected to especially benefit elderly citizens, working professionals, and those living in rural or far-off areas who often find it difficult to travel to government offices.
