Punjab’s Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has started a special training program to support the transgender community. This program is designed to help them learn useful job skills so they can earn money in a respectful and dignified way, instead of having to beg on the streets.
In the first stage of this plan, about 1,600 transgender people will be given training in different fields. This will be done through two important programs — the Technical Skills Training Program and the Punjab Skills Development Fund (PSDF). The main goal is to teach skills like information technology (IT) and freelancing, so that transgender individuals can work online and become financially independent.
But that’s not all. The program also includes training in other practical areas, such as:
- Healthcare assistance
- Tailoring and fashion designing
- Electric work and solar energy technology
- Beauty and salon services
- Cooking and culinary arts
These skills will open many job and business opportunities for the transgender community, helping them to build a better future.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz shared her sadness about how transgender people are treated unfairly in society. She said that it’s very upsetting how they are often rejected and looked down upon. Because of this, many of them are forced to beg, simply because they are not given chances to work or live like others.
She strongly believes that everyone has talent, no matter their gender. She said, “This training will show the world that skills and talent are not limited to any one gender.”
She also made it clear that the Punjab government is working hard to give the transgender community a respectable and equal place in society. These new job training programs are a big step toward changing their lives for the better. She called the initiative a “revolution” that will bring real change and help many people find hope, self-respect, and a bright future.
