Punjab Launches E-Taxi Scheme 2025 Payment Plan and Subsidy Details Revealed

The Punjab E-Taxi Scheme 2025, launched under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has now entered an important stage as the official payment plan has been finalized. This project is a historic step for Pakistan since it introduces the country’s first large-scale electric taxi service. The aim is not only to encourage the use of eco-friendly transport but also to provide employment opportunities for educated young people who are struggling to find jobs.

Payment Plan Details

Under this scheme, the government has created an affordable payment plan to make it easier for applicants to own their own e-taxi.

  • Applicants will need to pay a down payment ranging between Rs. 200,000 and Rs. 250,000, depending on the model of the vehicle they choose.
  • The remaining cost of the vehicle can be paid in monthly installments of Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 25,000. These installments can be spread out over a period of five to six years, giving drivers enough time to manage their finances.
  • To further reduce the burden, the Punjab government will subsidize 30% to 50% of the vehicle’s total cost. In addition, the government will also cover the interest on bank loans, so applicants only need to focus on paying their installments.
  • For vehicles priced between Rs. 4 million and Rs. 10 million, the government will contribute Rs. 585,000 towards the down payment, making it much easier for drivers to afford high-quality models.

Special Concessions

The government has also announced special incentives to ensure that women and differently-abled individuals can equally benefit from the scheme.

  • Women drivers will receive an additional subsidy of Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 100,000, encouraging more women to join the workforce and benefit from safe employment opportunities.
  • Disabled applicants will enjoy reduced down payments and free training facilities, allowing them to earn a stable income and live more independently.

First Phase Launch

The e-taxi service will officially begin in Lahore, where the first fleet of 1,100 electric taxis will be introduced. To support this initiative, the government has already set up 18 charging stations across the city. This infrastructure will ensure that drivers can easily charge their vehicles and continue providing uninterrupted service to passengers.

The CM Punjab E-Taxi Scheme 2025 is not just a transport project—it is a step toward a cleaner environment, reduced fuel dependency, and better job opportunities for the people of Punjab.
