Punjab Government Announces Special Relief for Flood Victims in Bills and Taxes

Punjab Finance Minister, Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, has announced a special relief plan for families who have been badly affected by the recent floods. He explained that these families will receive support in the form of reduced electricity bills and tax relief. Along with this, the government is working on a larger rehabilitation package, which will be introduced once the floodwater recedes and a complete survey of the damage has been carried out. This package aims to help families rebuild their homes, restore their livelihoods, and return to normal life.

The minister shared that people who lost their homes due to the floods are being shifted to relief camps set up in different areas of the province. At these camps, families are being provided with safe shelter, cooked meals, clean drinking water, and proper medical care. He also highlighted that in this time of difficulty, not only government departments but also civil society members and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) have stepped forward to offer their help. Together, they are working around the clock to provide relief and comfort to those who are suffering.

During his visit to relief camps in Faizpur Kalan and Chuhng, Mujtaba Shuja personally met with flood-affected families. He listened to their concerns, offered words of encouragement, and distributed tabarruk (blessed food). His visit gave families a sense of hope and showed them that the government stands with them during this tough time. Later, he also joined Eid Milad-un-Nabi celebrations at the camps, where he prayed for the safety of Pakistan and for the quick rehabilitation of all flood victims. In the evening, he participated in the central Milad procession held at Delhi Gate, where he expressed solidarity with the people.

The provincial finance minister assured that the Punjab government will continue to stand by the victims until their lives are fully restored. He stressed that this is not just about short-term relief but also about long-term recovery. According to him, the government is working closely with social organizations and welfare groups to make sure that every flood-affected family in Punjab has access to financial assistance, essential supplies, and proper rehabilitation programs. The goal is to ensure that no family is left behind and that communities can rebuild with dignity and strength.
