Punjab’s Minister for Labour, Sports, and Youth Affairs, Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar, has announced significant enhancements to the Chief Minister Internship Programme. These changes aim to provide young professionals with better financial support, increased training opportunities, and extended program duration.
One of the biggest improvements in the next phase of the program is a substantial increase in the monthly stipend. Previously set at Rs. 25,000, the stipend will now be raised to Rs. 60,000, allowing interns to benefit from greater financial assistance during their training period.
More Internship Positions Available
To accommodate more aspiring professionals, the number of internship positions will be expanded. The program, which earlier offered 6,000 internship slots, will now provide opportunities for 10,000 interns. This expansion is expected to help a larger number of students and fresh graduates gain valuable work experience.
Extended Program Duration
In another major development, the internship duration will be extended. Previously limited to six months, the program will now run for a full year, giving participants more time to develop their skills and enhance their career prospects.
These announcements were made during a Progress Review Session held at the E-Library and Youth Centre, Nishtar Park Sports Complex (NPSC), on Thursday. The session was attended by key officials, including:
- Mian Usman Ali – Additional Secretary, Sports and Youth Affairs
- Sajid Latif – Director General, e-Governance PITB
- Dr. M. Kaleem – Director Admin
- Syed Umair Hasan – Director Youth Affairs
Along with these officials, supervisors, focal persons, and a large number of male and female internees were also present.
Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar emphasized the importance of addressing youth-related challenges. To ensure that interns’ concerns are resolved quickly, he announced the establishment of a dedicated complaint cell at the NPSC e-Library. This initiative aims to provide a structured platform for interns to voice their issues and seek timely solutions.
During the event, the minister also acknowledged the contributions of officials involved in the program’s success. He presented appreciation souvenirs to Additional Secretary Mian Usman Ali, DG e-Governance PITB Sajid Latif, and other key figures. In a reciprocal gesture, Mian Usman Ali also honored Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar for his continuous efforts in improving youth programs.
With these major upgrades, the Chief Minister Internship Programme is set to become a game-changer for young professionals in Punjab. By offering higher stipends, more positions, and extended training periods, the initiative aims to empower interns with valuable skills, financial stability, and enhanced career opportunities.
