Punjab Boards Postpone Matric Supplementary Exams Amid Flood Situation

The recent floods across Punjab have badly affected daily life, and one of the major impacts has been on education. Because of this situation, the authorities have officially decided to postpone important academic examinations.

The Lahore Board, along with other educational boards in the province, announced today that the supplementary matriculation (class 10) exams will no longer take place on the original dates. These exams, which were scheduled to begin on September 10, will now start on September 29 instead.

Officials explained that continuous heavy rainfall and flooding in several districts of Punjab made it difficult for students to reach examination centers safely. Many schools and exam halls in flood-affected areas have also been damaged or are being used as relief camps. To ensure students’ safety and to provide them enough time to recover from this difficult situation, the boards decided to push the exams forward by nearly three weeks. A revised date sheet will be issued in the coming days.

This change applies to all educational boards in Punjab, including Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Multan, and others. Authorities emphasized that student well-being is the top priority, and postponing the exams was the most practical solution under these circumstances.

Before this announcement, thousands of students who were preparing for their supplementary exams were anxiously waiting for their date sheets and roll number slips. However, due to the uncertain conditions caused by the floods, boards had temporarily stopped issuing them. Now, with the new exam schedule finalized, the uncertainty has ended. Students can expect their roll number slips to be distributed soon.

According to board officials, the Punjab Boards Committee of Chairmen (PBCC) will hold a final meeting to approve the revised timetable. Once that is done, all educational boards will upload the new date sheets on their official websites, and schools will also distribute the roll number slips to students.

Authorities have also urged students and parents to keep checking the official websites of their respective boards for the latest updates. They assured that despite the delays, the exams will be conducted smoothly and with proper arrangements once the flood situation improves.
