The education boards across Punjab have officially introduced a revised registration fee structure for students enrolled in classes 9 and 10. This updated fee schedule will be applicable for the academic years starting from 2025 and continuing through 2027. The announcement affects both public and private schools throughout the province.
Increased Total Registration Cost
As per the revised policy, the total registration fee has now been increased to Rs. 2,910, which marks a noticeable rise from the previous fee structure. The increase is aimed at covering various administrative and developmental expenses associated with student registration and academic services.
Increase Fees Structure
The total registration amount of Rs. 2,910 is made up of several individual components, each serving a specific purpose:
- Registration Fee: Rs. 1,100 – This is the base fee charged for student enrollment with the education board.
- Processing Fee: Rs. 630 – This fee covers administrative handling, including online registration and documentation.
- Board Development Fund: Rs. 300 – Allocated for the development and improvement of board-related infrastructure and services.
- Scholarship Fee: Rs. 180 – Collected to support merit- and need-based scholarships for deserving students.
- Sports Fee: Rs. 200 – Meant to promote and facilitate student participation in extracurricular sports and physical education activities.
Additional Charges by Schools
Apart from the official board fees, schools are permitted to collect additional charges from students. These include:
- School’s Own Fee: Rs. 500 – This is an administrative charge levied by each school for their services.
- Miscellaneous Charges: Between Rs. 300 to Rs. 500 – Schools may also ask students to pay an extra amount for additional services such as form processing, printing, or record management.
These additional costs are applicable to students from both government and private educational institutions across Punjab.
Registration Timeline and Late Fee Penalty
The registration process for students intending to enroll in the 2025 academic session will commence on May 29, 2025. Students and schools are advised to complete the process within the stipulated timeframe to avoid any penalties.
- Without Late Fee: From May 29 to May 30, 2025
- With Late Fee: Students registering between May 30 and June 13, 2025, will have to pay an additional late fee of Rs. 600
Schools and students should strictly adhere to this timeline, as late registration can lead to further complications or disqualification.
Age Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for registration in Class 9, students must meet the minimum age requirement. As per the new guidelines:
- A student must be at least 11 years and 2 months old by August 1, 2025
- Students not meeting this age requirement will not be eligible to register for the 2025 academic year
This rule ensures that students are at the appropriate developmental stage for their academic level.
Registration Process and Documentation
The entire registration process will be conducted online through the official portals of the respective educational boards. However, to finalize the process, schools are required to:
- Submit hard copies of the registration forms and supporting documents to the relevant board office
- Ensure that each student’s documents are properly verified and submitted before the deadline
B-Form Requirement
It is also mandatory for each student to submit a copy of their B-Form (Birth Registration Certificate) during registration. This document serves as official proof of identity and age, and is a crucial part of the verification process.
