PSL 11 to Feature Two New Teams, Confirms CEO Salman Naseer

Pakistan Super League (PSL) Chief Executive Officer Salman Naseer has officially confirmed that the country’s most celebrated cricket event is set to expand. The next season, PSL 11, will feature two new teams, making it the largest edition in the tournament’s history. This decision marks a major milestone in the PSL’s journey as it continues to grow into one of the most successful T20 leagues in the world.

Speaking on the official PSL Podcast, Salman Naseer revealed exciting details about the league’s future plans. He announced that the sale process for the two new franchise teams will begin in November, adding that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is already receiving strong interest from various investors. “We have seen tremendous enthusiasm from multiple parties who want to become part of the PSL family,” he said. “This shows the league’s success, reputation, and financial growth over the past decade.”

Naseer explained that the terms of reference (TORs) related to the valuation of new franchises were finalized earlier this year in March, in complete agreement with all existing team owners. The valuation process is now nearing completion and will soon be finalized. Once completed, the PCB will share market-based valuations with all interested investors. This transparent and professional approach will ensure that every potential buyer understands the true worth of the franchise and the long-term commercial benefits of owning a PSL team.

According to Salman Naseer, the addition of two new teams will not only make the competition more exciting but will also create more opportunities for emerging Pakistani players to showcase their talent on a global stage. “Our main goal has always been to promote local talent,” he said. “With more teams and more matches, we’ll have a bigger player pool, giving young cricketers from across the country a platform to shine.”

The PSL CEO also revealed that the board is seriously considering expanding the number of match venues to make the tournament more accessible to fans nationwide. The plan is to host games across six cities, allowing supporters from different regions to enjoy the thrill of live cricket. Naseer highlighted that Peshawar’s Imran Khan Stadium is in the final stages of completion. “The stadium is almost ready,” he shared. “Only a few finishing touches and upgrades are required to bring it up to international standards. We are hopeful it will be ready in time for PSL 11.”

In addition to Peshawar, Faisalabad is also expected to join the list of host cities for the first time. This inclusion is seen as a major step toward decentralizing cricket events and bringing high-quality matches to cities that have long been passionate about the sport but rarely get the chance to host international-level games. “Faisalabad has a rich cricketing culture,” Naseer said. “Bringing PSL matches there will energize the local fans and inspire a new generation of players.”

Salman Naseer emphasized that expanding the PSL is not just about increasing the number of teams or venues — it’s about strengthening the league’s global image and ensuring that Pakistan remains at the heart of international T20 cricket. Over the years, the PSL has built a strong reputation for high-quality cricket, professional organization, and world-class entertainment. With the inclusion of new teams, the league aims to attract more international players, sponsors, and media attention, further boosting Pakistan’s standing in the world of sports.

He also highlighted how this expansion will have a positive economic impact. Hosting matches in more cities will bring increased tourism, business opportunities, and media coverage, benefiting local communities and boosting regional economies. “Every PSL season brings excitement, unity, and pride to our nation,” Naseer concluded. “With two new teams and new venues, we are taking the PSL to the next level — bigger, better, and more inclusive than ever before.”
