LAHORE: The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) has introduced a new examination system for Class 8 students, starting next year. Instead of taking exams at their own schools, students will now sit for board exams at designated centers. This change is part of PSEB’s efforts to improve education quality and create a fair assessment system across Punjab.
To ensure transparency, these exams will be held at independent testing centers, where teachers from different schools and board officials will supervise the process. Answer sheets will also be checked by educators from various institutions to prevent bias and ensure fair grading for all students.
Introducing board exams at the Class 8 level aims to standardize the evaluation process and help students understand their academic performance better. This early exposure to board exams will also prepare them for future assessments in higher classes, encouraging a strong academic foundation.
Ongoing Exams and Security Measures
Meanwhile, annual board exams for ninth and tenth graders are currently taking place across Punjab’s nine Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISEs), including Rawalpindi. The 12th-grade exams will start on April 29, followed by 11th-grade exams on May 20.
To maintain the fairness of exams, PSEB has introduced strict security measures at all test centers. CCTV cameras have been installed, and Section 144 has been enforced to prevent unauthorized gatherings near exam halls. Mobile phones and any materials that could be used for cheating are strictly banned. Law enforcement agencies are also monitoring the safe transportation of exam papers to prevent any malpractice.
These reforms highlight PSEB’s commitment to providing a fair, transparent, and high-quality education system for students across Punjab.
