PMDC Announces MDCAT 2025 Exam Centers and New Schedule

PMDC Announces MDCAT 2025 Exam Centers and New Schedule

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has announced major changes in the procedure and schedule of the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) 2025. The exam, which is compulsory for admission into medical and dental colleges, will now be conducted strictly on the basis of the candidate’s domicile.

Exam Centers Based on Domicile

PMDC has made it clear that students will be required to sit for the exam in their own provinces only. No student will be allowed to appear for the test in another province. This step aims to ensure fairness, transparency, and proper distribution of seats among candidates across Pakistan.

To conduct the test smoothly, the council has approved specific universities as exam centers. These include:

  • Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Sukkur
  • Bolan University of Medical and Health Sciences, Quetta
  • Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University, Islamabad

Each of these institutions will be responsible for organizing the exam in their respective regions.

Special Arrangements for Provinces

For the convenience of students, special arrangements have been made:

  • Sindh and Balochistan Candidates: A separate exam center will be set up in Islamabad to facilitate students from these provinces.
  • Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Candidates: Students must appear at test centers within their own provinces.
  • Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan Candidates: Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University in Islamabad will accommodate their tests, with seats allocated based on specific quotas.

These arrangements are designed to make the process easier for students and to ensure equal opportunities for all.

Domicile Requirement for Admission

PMDC emphasized that a valid domicile from the relevant province is now mandatory for admission into medical and dental colleges. This policy has been introduced to prevent misuse of quotas and to make the system more transparent.

In addition, special seats have been reserved for students belonging to Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, allowing them to pursue careers in medicine and dentistry within Pakistan.

Change in MDCAT 2025 Schedule

Earlier, the MDCAT was scheduled to take place on October 5, 2025. However, due to the devastating floods in different areas of Punjab and Sindh, PMDC decided to delay the exam to give affected students more time to prepare.

After thorough consultations with universities and education boards from all provinces, as well as Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, the council finalized the new exam date. The MDCAT 2025 will now be held on October 26, 2025 (Sunday).

Government’s Commitment to Students

Federal Minister Mustafa Kamal welcomed this decision, saying it was made to protect the best interests of students. He stressed that the government is fully committed to providing equal educational opportunities across the country.

He also highlighted that rescheduling the exam shows the government’s concern for students affected by natural disasters, and its dedication to supporting their academic future.

The new MDCAT policy ensures that admissions to medical and dental colleges in Pakistan will be more transparent and fair. With domicile-based test centers, special quotas for underrepresented regions, and a revised schedule, PMDC has taken steps to make the process more student-friendly.

For aspiring doctors and dentists, this announcement provides clarity and relief, especially for those who were concerned about exam arrangements and the impact of floods on their studies.
