The Government of Pakistan has officially launched the Prime Minister (PM) Laptop Loan Scheme 2025, a major initiative that aims to reduce the digital gap and provide young Pakistanis with access to modern technology. This scheme is seen as an important step to help students, freelancers, and young professionals who are unable to buy laptops due to high prices.
Through this program, laptops will be provided on easy and interest-free installments, making it possible for more people to afford them. This will not only support students in their education but will also open new opportunities for freelancers and entrepreneurs working in the digital economy.
Purpose of the Scheme
Government officials have described the scheme as a long-term investment in Pakistan’s future. The idea is to prepare the youth for success in online learning, freelancing platforms, and e-commerce businesses. By giving access to laptops, the government hopes to strengthen Pakistan’s role in the global digital market and create more employment opportunities for the younger generation.
Loan Amounts
Under the scheme, applicants can apply for laptop loans of up to PKR 450,000, depending on the type of laptop they require.
The loan has been divided into three main categories:
- Basic Category – PKR 150,000
- Medium Category – PKR 300,000
- Advanced Category – PKR 450,000
All of these loans can be repaid through flexible monthly installments spread over several years, making it easier for applicants to manage payments without financial pressure.
Eligibility Criteria
The scheme is open to Pakistani citizens between the ages of 18 and 35. It mainly targets:
- University students (enrolled in recognized institutions)
- Freelancers working on online platforms
- Young professionals in different fields
Special preference will be given to individuals from low-income families so that those who truly need financial support can benefit first. However, it is important to note that government employees are not eligible for this program.
Required Documents
To apply, applicants must prepare and upload the following documents online:
- A scanned copy of CNIC (front and back)
- A recent passport-size photograph
- Proof of income (salary slip or guardian’s income certificate)
- Educational documents or proof of university admission
- For freelancers: links to verified online profiles (such as Fiverr, Upwork, etc.)
Application Process
The entire application process will be carried out online through the official PM Youth Program portal. This step has been taken to ensure fairness, transparency, and convenience for applicants from across the country.
Vision and Impact
The PM Laptop Loan Scheme 2025 is more than just a financial program—it is a vision to build a digital Pakistan. By removing financial barriers, the government wants to:
- Provide equal access to technology for all
- Promote digital literacy and technical skills
- Support students and freelancers in becoming self-reliant
- Empower the youth to compete in global knowledge-based industries
This scheme is expected to help thousands of young Pakistanis achieve their educational and professional goals while contributing to the country’s overall digital growth.
