The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued an alert regarding the fourth spell of monsoon rains.
According to the spokesperson, strong winds, dusty storms, and heavy rainfall are expected between July 20 and July 25 in different parts of the province. Areas likely to be affected include Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Jhelum, and Gujranwala, where strong winds and heavy rain are expected.
There is also a possibility of rain in Lahore, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Mianwali, and Sargodha during this period. From July 18 to July 23, rainfall is predicted in Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan (DG Khan), Bahawalpur, and Bahawalnagar.
Following the instructions of the Chief Minister of Punjab, all district administrations have been placed on high alert. Citizens are advised to take safety precautions and stay in secure places during the bad weather.
Heavy Rain Expected in Karachi as Third Spell of Monsoon Begins
Meanwhile, in Karachi, the third spell of monsoon rains is about to begin, and the skies are getting ready to pour heavily.
The Director General of the Meteorological Department has warned that the weather system bringing rain to Punjab is now moving towards Sindh. In the next two days, rain is likely in Eastern Sindh, which includes areas like Mirpurkhas, Badin, Sanghar, Nawabshah, and Thatta.
He also mentioned that due to the third monsoon spell, Karachi is expected to receive heavy rain with thunder and lightning tomorrow. As of today, the weather in Karachi remains partly cloudy and humid, which is typical before a major rain.
According to the Met Department, light rain or drizzle is expected during the night hours as well.
