Pakistan Start WCL 2025 with Thrilling Win Over England Champions

Pakistan Champions kicked off their World Championship of Legends WCL 2025 journey with a thrilling five-run win against England Champions at Edgbaston. It was a closely fought match that kept fans on the edge of their seats till the very last over.

Led by captain Mohammad Hafeez, who played a brilliant knock under pressure, Pakistan managed to secure a hard-fought victory. Hafeez scored a quick 54 runs off just 34 balls, playing a key role in helping his team post a competitive total. His aggressive innings came at a time when Pakistan had lost early wickets, with Kamran Akmal (8), Sharjeel Khan (12), and Umar Amin (6) all dismissed within the first seven overs.

Despite the shaky start, Hafeez stayed calm and fought back with his attacking stroke play. He hit boundaries regularly and kept the scoreboard ticking. After his dismissal, the middle and lower order chipped in with important runs. Aamer Yamin’s quick 27* off 13 balls and Sohail Tanvir’s 17 off 11 balls were especially vital. Their late hitting helped Pakistan reach 160 for 9 in their 20 overs — a total that looked just about defendable on a good batting pitch.

England Champions came out to chase 161 with confidence. Their openers got them off to a steady start. Phil Mustard scored a well-made 58 runs, playing some stylish shots around the ground. Ian Bell remained unbeaten with 51 runs, playing with class and control. At one point, it seemed like England were cruising toward victory.

However, Pakistan’s bowlers had other plans. Shoaib Malik bowled tight lines and kept the pressure on, while left-arm pacer Rumman Raees delivered a game-changing spell. He bowled four economical overs and gave away only 14 runs, also taking a crucial wicket. His performance slowed down the scoring rate and made the final few overs tense for the English side.

As the required run rate climbed, England struggled to find boundaries. In the end, they fell just short, finishing at 155 for 3 in their 20 overs. Pakistan’s strong bowling effort, especially in the second half of the innings, made all the difference.

This win is a great start for the Pakistan Champions in the 2025 WCL. Captain Hafeez showed excellent leadership, and the team’s experienced players like Shoaib Malik, Shahid Afridi, and Kamran Akmal add depth and confidence. The victory gives the team momentum and belief as they move forward in the tournament.

Up next, Pakistan will face their biggest rivals — India Champions — in a highly anticipated clash tomorrow. This match carries extra importance, as Pakistan will be looking to take revenge for their loss to India in the final of the previous tournament.

With the World Championship of Legends 2025 now fully underway, the Pakistan Champions have made their intentions clear — they are here to fight hard and aim for their first-ever title. Fans can expect more excitement and drama in the matches to come.
