Pakistan Star Babar Azam breaks into top 3 in ICC Ranking

Pakistan’s Babar Azam jumped up to the third place in the ICC ODI rankings after a brilliant tournament World Cup scoring 474 runs including three fifties and one century.

There have been many other notable movements too, with Pakistan Babar Azam going up to third place, just behind his career-high second place achieved in June 2018, and Australia opener David Warner re-entering at number six after a highly successful group stage that saw him aggregate 638 runs, just nine less than leading scorer Rohit.

Opener Imam-ul-Haq who scored a ton against Bangladesh jumped to the 11th position on the ICC rankings. Left-handed batsman Haris Sohail who started off the tournament on 56, moved to number 36 after scoring 198 runs in his five innings at the World Cup.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli continues to rule the number one position after scoring five half-centuries in the World Cup 2019 while his Rohit Sharma has jumped 51 points to six after becoming the first batsman to score five centuries in the World Cup. His 885 points going into the semi-finals are a career-high.

Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan retained the top spot among all-rounders, while England’s Ben Stokes gained nine places to reach the second position.

Pacers Mohammad Amir and Shaheen Shah Afridi moved to the 12th and the 24th spots in the ODI rankings while leg-spinner Shadab Khan is at number 25.

India’s Jasprit Bumrah retained his top spot, followed by New Zealand’s Trent Boult and Australia’s Pat Cummins.

The Pakistan cricket team stands at the sixth spot in the ICC ODI team ranking with 98 points.
