Pakistan Railways Announces 20% Fare Discount and Special Trains for Eid ul Adha 2025

In celebration of Eid ul Adha, Pakistan Railways has announced a special discount and several measures to make travel easier and safer for the public.

Federal Minister for Railways, Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, officially announced a 20% discount on all train fares. This discount will be available for three days during Eid ul Adha, allowing people to travel at lower costs to meet their loved ones.

To handle the increased number of passengers during the Eid holidays, Pakistan Railways also introduced five special Eid trains. These special trains were scheduled to operate from different cities, providing additional travel options for passengers.

Special Eid Train Schedule

According to the official details:

  • The first special train departed from Karachi Cantonment and headed to Lahore at 1:00 PM on June 2.
  • The second train left Quetta for Peshawar at 10:00 AM on June 3.
  • Later on the same day, the third special train departed from Lahore to Karachi at 5:00 PM.
  • The fourth train also left on June 3, traveling from Karachi Cantonment to Rawalpindi at 7:30 PM.
  • The fifth and final Eid special train departed from Karachi Cantonment to Lahore at 7:30 PM on June 4.

These additional trains were arranged to help manage the holiday rush and ensure smoother travel for families heading home for Eid celebrations.

Extra Security Measures During Eid

To ensure the safety of passengers and railway property, Pakistan Railways Police implemented strict security measures. All Superintendents of Police (SPs) across the railways were instructed to remain active and alert during the Eid holidays.

An official from the Ministry of Railways stated that extra security forces would be deployed at both entry and exit points of railway stations. Special attention is being given to identify and monitor suspicious individuals.

The Railways Police Commando Force is also being assigned to high-risk areas and trains, while bomb disposal squads will remain on standby at major stations. These teams are responsible for checking luggage and inspecting passengers to prevent any potential threats.

Moreover, the SPs were directed to inspect all empty train coaches (rakes) before they are brought onto the platforms for passenger boarding. This step is part of the preventive security strategy.

The official also shared that all SPs Railways have been instructed to stay on duty during the Eid holidays. They are expected to conduct surprise inspections of trains, stations, and security staff to ensure everything is in order.

Increase in Passenger Numbers Before Eid

As Eid ul Adha approaches, railway stations across the country are witnessing a significant rise in passenger numbers. People from all walks of life are traveling to their hometowns to celebrate the festival with their families. Pakistan Railways aims to make this journey safe, affordable, and smooth for everyone by offering discounted fares, special trains, and enhanced security arrangements.
