Pakistan is expected to make just one change in their team for the second T20 International (T20I) match against Bangladesh. This match will be played on Tuesday at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.
Young left-arm spinner Sufiyan Muqeem is likely to get a chance in the playing XI. He may replace either Mohammad Nawaz or Abrar Ahmed, depending on the team’s strategy and pitch conditions. The team management is looking to improve its bowling attack after a disappointing performance in the first match.
Despite the availability of Sahibzada Farhan, the top-order batting is expected to stay the same. Farhan was in great form during PSL 10 earlier this year and played some strong innings. However, the team may not want to disturb the opening pair just yet.
Bangladesh Took 1-0 Lead in the Series
In the first match of the three-match series, Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by seven wickets and took a 1-0 lead. The home team chased down a small target of 111 runs comfortably, thanks to a brilliant half-century by Parvez Hossain Emon.
Pakistan had an early breakthrough when Salman Mirza, making his debut, bowled an excellent opening spell. He dismissed Tanzid Hasan for just 1 run in the very first over. In his next over, he took the big wicket of Bangladesh captain Litton Das, also for 1 run. This left Bangladesh struggling at 7 runs for 2 wickets in 2.2 overs.
Emon and Hridoy Rebuilt the Innings
After the early shocks, Parvez Hossain Emon and Towhid Hridoy played sensibly and built a strong partnership. They added 73 valuable runs for the third wicket, slowly taking control of the match. Their partnership gave Bangladesh the stability it needed after the early losses.
The stand was finally broken in the 13th over when Abbas Afridi dismissed Hridoy for 36 runs off 37 balls, with the score at 80/3. However, Emon continued his fine innings and remained not out on 56, scoring his second T20I fifty. He guided his team to victory in just 15.3 overs.
Jaker Ali also made a quick contribution, scoring 15 runs off 10 balls, helping to finish the game quickly and give Bangladesh a strong start in the series.
Pakistan’s Batting Collapse
Earlier in the match, Pakistan struggled badly with the bat. They started well, but their middle and lower order could not build on the momentum. Fakhar Zaman was the only batsman who showed some fight, scoring 44 runs off 34 balls. However, none of the other batsmen could support him.
The whole team was bowled out for just 110 runs in 19.5 overs. This was Pakistan’s lowest T20I total against Bangladesh in history. The Bangladesh bowlers did a great job, especially Taskin Ahmed, who took 3 wickets for 22 runs, and Mustafizur Rahman, who gave away only 6 runs and took 2 wickets.
Positive Signs for Pakistan: Debutant Shines
One positive for Pakistan was the performance of debutant Salman Mirza, who bowled with good pace and confidence. He took 2 wickets for 23 runs in 3.3 overs. Abbas Afridi also bowled well, picking up 1 wicket during his spell.
