Pakistan cricket captain Salman Ali Agha gave fans a slight scare on Wednesday when he skipped most of the team’s training session at the ICC Academy in Dubai. The reason behind his absence was a minor neck spasm, which came just a few days before Pakistan’s highly anticipated Asia Cup 2025 clash against India on Sunday.
Even though Salman arrived at the training ground with his teammates, he was noticeably not fully active. He had a bandage wrapped around his neck and moved carefully, avoiding any unnecessary strain. His body language suggested that he was being cautious, making sure not to worsen the issue.
Meanwhile, the rest of the Pakistan squad looked energetic as they went through their usual training routine. The players did stretching drills, warm-up exercises, and even enjoyed a short game of football to stay relaxed and maintain team spirit. Salman, however, decided not to take part in these activities and preferred to rest on the sidelines.
The Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) media manager later reassured fans and the media that the injury was nothing serious. He confirmed that Salman was only suffering from a mild neck spasm and that there were no major fitness concerns. His absence from training was described as a precautionary measure rather than a serious setback.
According to team officials, the captain is expected to rejoin full training soon and should be completely fit to lead Pakistan in their Asia Cup campaign. The team management is optimistic that Salman will not only be available for the crucial match against India but also in good shape for the rest of the tournament.
Pakistan enters the Asia Cup on a positive note after recently lifting the Tri-Nation T20I Series trophy in Sharjah. In the final, Pakistan successfully defended a modest total of 142 runs against Afghanistan, bowling them out for just 66 runs in a dominant performance. This victory has boosted the team’s confidence ahead of the continental tournament.
Before facing India, Pakistan will begin their Asia Cup 2025 journey against Oman on Friday at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. This opening match will be an important test for the squad, and fans will be eager to see how the team performs, especially under the leadership of Salman Ali Agha once he returns to full fitness.
