The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially announced the schedule for an exciting tri-nation T20 series, featuring Pakistan, Afghanistan, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This mini-tournament will serve as a warm-up for the much-anticipated 2025 ACC Men’s T20 Asia Cup, giving all three teams a chance to prepare under similar playing conditions.
Change in Plans: From Bilateral to Tri-Series
Originally, Pakistan was supposed to host a bilateral series against Afghanistan at home. However, the PCB later decided to change the format and include a third team, UAE, turning the series into a tri-nation event. The decision was made to provide all three sides with better match practice and exposure ahead of the Asia Cup.
Match Venue and Dates
All the matches of this tri-series will be played at the historic Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates. The series will take place from August 29 to September 7, 2025, just a couple of days before the Asia Cup begins on September 9 and runs until September 28, also in the UAE.
Importance of the Series
This tri-series is not just a regular cricket event. It holds great importance for all three teams. It gives them a chance to fine-tune their line-ups, test different combinations, and adapt to the hot and dry playing conditions of the UAE. Since all the matches will be played under floodlights at 7 PM local time, teams can simulate the same match timings and weather they will face in the Asia Cup.
Format and Fixtures
The series will follow a double round-robin format. This means each team will play the other two teams twice. In total, every team gets four matches before the top two sides advance to the final, which will be played on September 7.
Here is the complete match schedule:
| Date | Match |

| 29 August | Afghanistan vs Pakistan |
| 30 August | UAE vs Pakistan |

Why Sharjah?
Sharjah is known as a legendary venue in the world of cricket, especially for teams from the subcontinent. The ground is famous for its spin-friendly pitches and fast outfields. Playing in Sharjah will test teams’ bowling depth and their ability to adjust tactics quickly. Spinners and skillful bowlers are expected to play a key role.
A Big Opportunity for Pakistan
For Pakistan, this series is about more than just getting ready for the Asia Cup. It’s a golden opportunity to settle their playing XI, test bench strength, and sharpen their game plan for the busy T20 calendar ahead. With several big tournaments lined up, every match counts.
Boosting Confidence Before Asia Cup
Apart from building match fitness and rhythm, the tri-series gives all three teams a chance to build momentum, team chemistry, and confidence before stepping into the high-pressure environment of the Asia Cup. Winning matches here could give any team the mental edge going forward.
