Taunsa, Punjab – In a shocking case of theft, more than 43,000 textbooks meant for students in government schools were stolen from a warehouse in the Boys High School Taunsa. Authorities have launched an investigation to recover the missing books and bring those responsible to justice.
According to official reports, a total of 43,665 textbooks were discovered missing from the warehouse. The incident came to light on March 10, when Abdul Lateef, the Assistant Education Officer and the warehouse in-charge, found that the books had vanished. Following this discovery, Lateef immediately lodged a complaint with the City Police Station, prompting authorities to register a case and begin a probe into the large-scale theft.
The police have registered a case against seven individuals, including the school’s watchman, the warehouse manager, and three unidentified suspects. While authorities have not yet determined the full extent of involvement of each suspect, they have detained at least one named individual for questioning. Law enforcement agencies are now working to trace the stolen books and determine whether this theft was an isolated incident or part of a larger, organized operation.
Police officials stated that the investigation is focused on identifying whether the stolen books were taken as part of a local-level conspiracy or if a higher-level network was involved in smuggling or selling government-issued textbooks. Investigators are also looking into the possibility that the books were stolen over a period of time rather than in a single act.
These textbooks were meant for distribution among government schools in March, as part of the academic curriculum for the current year. The sudden disappearance of such a large quantity of books has raised concerns about the security of educational resources and the potential impact on students who rely on these materials for their studies.
Authorities have assured that every effort will be made to recover the missing books and hold those responsible accountable. The police have urged anyone with information regarding the case to come forward and assist in the investigation.
