After her father’s death and being confined to a wheelchair for her freshman year, Devi becomes determined to have an exciting sophomore year. Devi also attends child therapy to cope and deal with her feelings. She pleads with best friends Eleanor and Fabiola to get boyfriends so that the group becomes cool, doing many things such as dressing revealingly to impress her target.
However, when she discovers that Eleanor has a boyfriend, she has a breakdown, throws her math textbook out the window, and asks classmate Paxton, who she has a crush on, if he wants to have sex and surprised, Paxton accepts. Devi’s cousin Kamala is told that her marriage is being arranged.
