NADRA Upgrades Non-Chip CNIC Without Fee Increase – Faster Delivery and Easy Verification

NADRA Upgrades Non-Chip CNIC Without Fee Increase

In a major step to help low-income families and undocumented individuals in Pakistan, the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has announced important upgrades to the non-chip Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC). The best part is that there will be no increase in the fee, making it easier for everyone to access this essential ID.

What’s New in the Updated Non-Chip CNIC?

The improved CNIC now comes with bilingual printing, meaning the name and parent’s name will be written in both Urdu and English. This change will help people use the card easily in situations where English is required, such as for banks, job applications, and travel.

Another important feature is the addition of a QR code, which replaces the old thumb impression system. The QR code will make it faster and safer to verify a person’s identity, especially when using digital services or biometric scanners.

Faster Delivery Time – No More Long Waits

Earlier, people had to wait 30 days to receive their non-chip CNIC. Now, NADRA has reduced the delivery time to just 6 to 15 days. This big improvement will especially help those who need their ID cards urgently for work, education, or government assistance.

Still Free for First-Time Applicants

NADRA has confirmed that the non-chip CNIC remains free of cost for people applying for the first time. Even after the upgrades, no extra fee will be charged, which is a big relief for the poor and those who cannot afford high registration costs.

This move is expected to encourage more unregistered citizens to come forward and apply for their CNICs, helping them access their rights and benefits.
