Monsoon Rain Warning: Schools Remain Closed for Two Days

Schools Remain Closed for Two Days

Bagh (AJK): Authorities in Bagh have ordered the closure of all schools and educational institutions after the Meteorological Department issued a high flood alert.

According to an official notification, both public and private schools in the district will remain closed on August 18 and 19, 2025. The decision has been taken to protect students and staff from possible risks caused by the heavy monsoon rains.

The Met Office has forecast heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in several districts, including Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Bagh, Haveli, Kotli, Mirpur, and Bhimber.

Officials warned that the weather could trigger flash floods and landslides, especially in hilly and mountainous areas where the soil is already weak due to earlier rains.

The department also predicted very heavy rainfall in Islamabad over the next 24 hours. The rain may come in intervals, but experts say it could still cause urban flooding and traffic disruptions.

Authorities in Bagh said the school closure is a necessary precaution as the region prepares for the severe weather conditions.
