Captain Mohammad Hafeez has expressed great pride in his team, Pakistan Champions, for showing honesty, respect, and true sportsmanship throughout their journey in the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025. Speaking to the media on Friday, Hafeez appreciated his teammates for their commitment and excellent performances.
Talking about their campaign so far, Hafeez said, “I feel very proud of every player in our team. Everyone played their part responsibly. We followed three important values—integrity, respect, and the spirit of the game. I’m happy to say we delivered on all of them.”
He further explained that their matches were not just for entertainment, but full of challenges that required complete focus and hard work. “We played excellent cricket throughout the tournament. It wasn’t just fun or casual cricket—it was tough and competitive. Every player stayed focused and gave their best,” Hafeez added with a smile.
When asked about the playing XI for the final match against South Africa Champions, which is set to take place at Edgbaston on Saturday, Hafeez said that the final decision will be made after checking the matchday conditions.
“We haven’t looked at the pitch or the weather yet. Tomorrow, we’ll check everything, and then we’ll choose the best possible team. The good thing is that all our players are fit and ready, so we’ll go with the best combination available,” he explained.
Hafeez also gave an update about the fitness of star all-rounder Shahid Afridi. While Afridi is still not fully fit, Hafeez did not completely rule out his participation in the final.
“It’s unfortunate that Afridi bhai is still not feeling 100% fit, but I really admire his dedication. He’s trying his best every single day. If we believe that he can still make a valuable impact in the final, then we will surely consider him for the playing XI,” Hafeez shared.
The Pakistan Champions have won the hearts of fans with their strong performances and positive attitude. Now, all eyes are on the grand final, where they hope to lift the trophy and finish their campaign in style.
