Mohammad Hafeez Named Captain of Pakistan Champions for WCL 2025

Former Pakistani all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez has been officially named the captain of the Pakistan Champions team for the second edition of the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025. This exciting cricket tournament will take place later this month in Birmingham, England.

The announcement was made through the official social media accounts of the Pakistan Champions team. The WCL T20 League is a special tournament that features legendary retired cricket players from six major cricketing nations — Pakistan, India, Australia, South Africa, England, and the West Indies. After a successful first season last year, the event is returning with even more excitement. This year’s edition will take place from mid-July to early August and promises thrilling action for cricket fans across the globe.

In the inaugural season, the Pakistan Champions had an excellent run and were one of the strongest teams in the tournament. They started off with a convincing win over Australia and followed it up with another dominant performance against the West Indies.

One of their most memorable matches was against their traditional rivals, India. In this high-scoring encounter, Pakistan scored a massive 243 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. Their bowlers then restricted India to just 175/9, securing a big win.

Under the leadership of Younis Khan, Pakistan continued to shine. They defeated England and only lost one match during the group stage, which was against South Africa. In the semifinals, Pakistan beat the West Indies to book a spot in the final.

In the final match, Pakistan set a target of 157 runs. However, India successfully chased the target in 19.1 overs and won the championship by five wickets. Despite the loss, Pakistan’s overall performance in the tournament was praised by fans and experts alike.

With Mohammad Hafeez now leading the team, fans are hopeful that Pakistan will once again deliver a strong performance and aim for the title. Hafeez brings with him years of international experience, strong leadership skills, and a deep understanding of the game.

The second season of the World Championship of Legends will begin on July 18, 2025, with Pakistan Champions playing against England Champions. The match will be held at the famous Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham.

Cricket fans are especially looking forward to the classic India vs Pakistan match, which is scheduled for July 20, also at Edgbaston. This clash of the titans is expected to draw huge crowds and worldwide attention.
