Mohammad Amir Reaches 400 T20 Wickets, Becomes Second Pakistani to Achieve Landmark

Pakistan’s star left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir has entered the record books by becoming only the second Pakistani bowler to claim 400 wickets in T20 cricket. The milestone came during the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025 clash between Trinbago Knight Riders and Antigua and Barbuda Falcons on Wednesday.

Amir Joins Elite 400-Wicket Club

Amir reached the historic figure in his 343rd T20 match when he dismissed Fabian Allen. With this achievement, the 33-year-old now stands ninth on the all-time list of T20 wicket-takers, further cementing his status as one of the format’s finest bowlers.

The only other Pakistani bowler ahead of him is Wahab Riaz, who holds the national record with 413 wickets in 348 matches. Wahab also boasts three five-wicket hauls at an economy rate of 7.54. Amir is now just 13 wickets away from surpassing him.

Falcons Secure Victory in Tight Contest

Despite Amir’s personal milestone, the Trinbago Knight Riders fell short in their chase as Antigua and Barbuda Falcons clinched an eight-run win.

Batting first, the Falcons posted 167 for 6 in 20 overs. Fabian Allen smashed a rapid 45 off 20 balls, while skipper Imad Wasim added a crucial 39 off 27. Wicketkeeper Jewel Andrew chipped in with 22 runs as the team put up a competitive total.

For the Knight Riders, Usman Tariq (2/37) and Nathan Edward (2/56) claimed two wickets each, while Amir and Akeal Hosein bagged one each.

Knight Riders Fall Short in Chase

In reply, the Knight Riders managed 159 for 6, falling just short of their target. Colin Munro blazed his way to 44 off 18 balls, while veteran Kieron Pollard remained unbeaten with 43 off 28 deliveries. Keacy Carty contributed 35 runs, but the rest of the batting lineup faltered under scoreboard pressure.

For the Falcons, left-arm quick Obed McCoy was the standout bowler with figures of 4 for 39, while Rahkeem Cornwall and Shakib Al Hasan took one wicket each. Their disciplined bowling ensured the Falcons walked away with a hard-fought victory.

A Proud Moment for Pakistan Cricket

While the result favored Antigua and Barbuda Falcons, the spotlight remained firmly on Mohammad Amir, whose entry into the 400-wicket club marks a significant achievement in his career and for Pakistan cricket. Fans and experts alike hailed his consistency, skill, and longevity in the shortest format of the game.
