Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has officially started a Free Insulin Program to help children who are living with diabetes. Through this new program, insulin will be provided completely free of cost to children who need it but cannot afford it.
Before announcing the program publicly, Maryam Nawaz went on a surprise visit to meet families of diabetic children in different areas of Lahore. She didn’t just send government staff—she personally joined delivery riders to hand out CM Insulin Cards to the children. Her kind gesture was praised by many, showing that she truly cares for the people.
One of her visits was to Q-Block in Sabzazar, where she delivered insulin cards directly to children. Among them were Wasay Adnan, Zainab Waheed, and Zain Shehzad. These children received more than just insulin cards—they were also given glucometers (to check their blood sugar), BSR strips, and safe needle boxes to manage their diabetes at home.
While meeting Wasay Adnan’s family, Maryam Nawaz gave his grandmother a warm hug and asked about their health and daily struggles. She listened with compassion and even promised to send a car for Wasay to help him travel easily for his treatments. Her kindness brought comfort to the family.
During the visit, the Chief Minister said that she understands the pain and difficulties faced by children who live with diabetes. She made it clear that her government is committed to supporting poor families who cannot buy life-saving medicines like insulin. Her mission is to make sure no child is left behind due to poverty.
In the first phase of the Free Insulin Program, 1,500 children across Punjab will receive free insulin delivered directly to their homes. This is just the beginning. The government plans to expand the program so that more children can benefit in the coming months.
It’s worth remembering that Maryam Nawaz had first announced this program in December 2024, and now, within a few months, it is being put into action. This shows her strong commitment to improving healthcare for the people of Punjab.
