Latest WTC Points Table: Australia Lead, India 4th After Draw

The recent Test match between India and England at Old Trafford ended in a dull draw, leaving fans slightly disappointed. Unlike the thrilling encounters earlier in the series, this fourth Test lacked the excitement many were hoping for. The result didn’t bring much change to the World Test Championship (WTC) standings either.

England dominated the first innings and managed to secure a massive lead of 311 runs. However, India made a strong comeback in their second innings. Centuries from Shubman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja, and Washington Sundar helped India avoid defeat. Thanks to their efforts, India managed to stay alive in the five-match series and avoided a series loss before heading into the final game.

Despite the result, the WTC points table saw only minor adjustments. The draw means the series is still open, and the outcome of the final Test at The Oval will be important for both teams’ confidence, if not the table.

Australia continue to dominate the World Test Championship with a perfect record. They have played three matches, won all three, and sit comfortably at the top with 36 points and a 100% points percentage.

Sri Lanka hold the second spot with 16 points from two matches. They are yet to lose a game, which gives them a healthy 66.67% points percentage.

England, after the draw in Manchester, now have a points percentage of 54.17% and stand third in the rankings. They have played four matches, winning two, losing one, and drawing one. Due to two-point deductions, their current total is 26 points.

India find themselves in fourth place. Out of four matches, they have won one, lost two, and drawn one, earning them 16 points and a 33.33% points percentage.

Although the Test didn’t deliver thrilling cricket, it was still a memorable one for England fans. Joe Root reached an important milestone during this match, becoming one of the few cricketers in history to achieve such remarkable stats. His consistent performances over the years have firmly placed him among the legends of the game.

As the series now moves to The Oval for the final match starting Thursday, both India and England will be aiming to finish strong. While this series result might not drastically affect the WTC standings, a win in the last Test could help improve points percentages and boost morale for the rest of the championship cycle.

With more matches to come in this WTC edition, the competition is still wide open. Fans will be hoping the final Test delivers the kind of excitement and drama that this historic rivalry is known for.
