Lahore – With Eid-ul-Adha 2025 fast approaching, the excitement is growing across Pakistan, especially in major cities like Lahore. Known as the Festival of Sacrifice, Eid-ul-Adha is one of the most important Islamic events of the year. One of the most anticipated traditions during this time is Qurbani—the ritual sacrifice of animals such as goats, cows, and camels.
To prepare for the festival, the Lahore district administration has finalized plans for setting up official cattle markets across the city. These markets will allow citizens to purchase sacrificial animals in a safe and organized environment.
With just a few weeks left before Eid-ul-Adha, preparations are in full swing. The setup of official cattle markets across Lahore shows the government’s commitment to organizing a smooth and well-managed Qurbani season. Citizens are advised to buy animals only from authorized markets and follow all safety and hygiene guidelines.

Lahore Finalizes 5 Temporary Cattle Markets for Eid-ul-Adha 2025
Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Lahore, Syed Musa Raza, chaired a high-level meeting on Tuesday to review the preparations for Bakra Eid. During the meeting, several departments including Punjab Police, Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC), and the Punjab Cattle Market Management Company discussed their roles in managing the upcoming cattle markets.
According to the district administration, five temporary cattle markets will be established at the following locations:
- Wahga Sports Complex
- Nishtar LDA City
- Ravi (Mouza Nain Sukh)
- Burki Road
- Raiwind
In addition to these temporary markets, the permanent cattle market at Shahpur Kanjran will continue to operate throughout the Eid season.
Facilities and Services for Buyers and Sellers
To make the experience more comfortable for both buyers and sellers, each market will be equipped with essential facilities. These include:
- Tents and shaded areas
- Clean drinking water
- Sanitation and waste disposal services
- Proper lighting and electricity
- Mobile ATMs for easy payments
- Medical teams and first aid stations
The Punjab Police will provide security at all markets to ensure safety and prevent any untoward incidents. The LWMC will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness in and around the market areas. Extra staff and equipment will be deployed to manage the increased waste during the festive period.
Crackdown on Illegal Cattle Markets
To avoid traffic problems and ensure public safety, the Lahore district administration has announced a strict crackdown on illegal or unauthorized cattle markets. Citizens are encouraged to report any such setups to the DC Control Room or via official social media platforms. Strict action will be taken against violators.
According to lunar predictions, Eid-ul-Adha 2025 is expected to begin on Saturday, June 7, and will continue through Monday, June 9. However, these dates are tentative and will only be confirmed once the crescent moon is sighted by official moon-sighting committees.
If these projected dates are confirmed, the public holidays for Eid-ul-Adha may be shorter than those of Eid-ul-Fitr, when schools and offices often remain closed for a longer period. This year, students and workers may enjoy a three-day break.
