The Lahore Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) has officially imposed a ban on the distribution of past Matric and Intermediate examination papers on social media platforms. This decision aims to prevent the unauthorized circulation of previous exam materials, which has become increasingly common across various online channels.
In a formal announcement, the Controller of Examinations issued a strict warning, stating that individuals found sharing old or guess papers online will face severe legal consequences. The directive cites the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), under which violators may be subject to substantial fines and potential imprisonment. Authorities have emphasized that these measures are necessary to curb academic dishonesty and maintain the credibility of the examination process.
Additionally, the Lahore Board has formally informed the heads of educational institutions about the newly enforced restriction. Concerns have been raised over the widespread availability of past papers in WhatsApp groups and on other social media platforms, where both public and private school teachers are reportedly involved in sharing such content. Officials argue that easy access to previous exams gives certain students an unfair advantage and undermines the educational system’s integrity.
As part of this crackdown, the Lahore Board has outlined strict penalties for violators. Under the new policy, those caught distributing past exam papers without authorization could face legal action, including up to three years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 50,000. The Board has reaffirmed its dedication to maintaining a fair and transparent examination system, ensuring that students are assessed based on their knowledge and preparation rather than relying on leaked or unauthorized study materials.
