Kuwait to Celebrate Eid-ul-Adha on June 6, 2025

Eid-ul-Adha 2025 in Kuwait Official Date and Holiday Schedule

Kuwait will celebrate Eid-ul-Adha on Friday, June 6, 2025. This announcement was made by the Al Ojairi Scientific Centre, the country’s official center for astronomy and science. The news was reported by Arab Times Online.

According to the Al Ojairi Scientific Centre, the Islamic month of Dhul Hijjah will begin after the crescent moon is sighted on May 28. This marks the start of the holy period that leads to Eid-ul-Adha. The Day of Arafah, which is observed one day before Eid, will fall on Thursday, June 5, 2025.

In a public statement, the centre explained that the crescent moon of Dhul Hijjah will appear after a special astronomical event called the “conjunction,” which will take place early in the morning on May 27. This date is the 29th day of the previous Islamic month, Dhul Qidah. The crescent moon is expected to be visible in the evening of that same day.

The Al Ojairi Scientific Centre also noted that the crescent moon will be visible in Kuwait for about 43 minutes after the sun sets on May 28. It will also be visible in many other Arab and Islamic cities for a duration ranging from 40 to 58 minutes, depending on the location.

To prepare for the celebration, Kuwait’s government has declared public holidays from June 5 to June 9. This was announced by the Kuwaiti Cabinet on April 29, 2025. During these days, all government offices and public institutions will remain closed in observance of Eid-ul-Adha.

Government employees will return to work on Tuesday, June 10. However, the Cabinet, which is headed by Acting Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Al Sabah, said that certain workplaces with special needs or non-standard operations may follow different schedules based on their requirements.

Eid-ul-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is one of the most important Islamic holidays. It honors the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God. The holiday is marked by prayers, gatherings, and the sacrifice of animals such as sheep or goats, which are then shared with family, friends, and those in need.

With the date now confirmed, people in Kuwait can begin planning their celebrations, travel, and time with loved ones.
