KPK Launches Roshan Mustaqbil and Sahara Cards for Orphans and Widows

Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has officially started two major welfare programs aimed at helping the province’s most vulnerable people. These two new schemes are called the Roshan Mustaqbil Card for orphans and the Sahara Card for widows. Both programs are designed to provide regular financial support to those who need it most.

The launch event was held on Monday at the Chief Minister’s House in Peshawar. Many important people attended the ceremony, including Provincial Minister for Social Welfare Syed Qasim Ali Shah, members of the Provincial Assembly, government officers, and other guests. During the event, Chief Minister Gandapur personally handed out Roshan Mustaqbil Cards to orphaned children and Sahara Cards to widowed women, showing his personal commitment to the cause.

Roshan Mustaqbil and Sahara Cards for Orphans and Widows

The Roshan Mustaqbil Card is designed to support orphaned children between the ages of 5 and 16. Each child will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 5,000. In the first phase, around 9,000 children will benefit from this program.

Similarly, the Sahara Card aims to help widows aged 45 and above. These women will also receive a monthly payment of Rs 5,000. In its initial stage, the program will support 15,000 widows.

To make things easier for the recipients, the government will release payments by the 5th of each month. As a special step, the first payment will be Rs 10,000, covering both May and June due to the Eid-ul-Adha holidays.

Transparent Selection and Future Plans

The selection of beneficiaries has been done in a transparent and fair manner. Only those who meet the criteria were chosen. The government has made it clear that it plans to expand both programs. New registrations for more beneficiaries will begin in July, ensuring more people can benefit in the future.

CM Gandapur’s Vision for a Welfare State

While addressing the event, Chief Minister Gandapur said that these efforts reflect his government’s strong commitment to the welfare vision laid out by the party’s founding leader. He emphasized the importance of justice, equality, and merit in building a true Islamic welfare state.

He also praised the Social Welfare Department for successfully launching these programs and said the government is working hard to identify and help more people in need across the province.

More Welfare Projects Announced

In addition to the Roshan Mustaqbil and Sahara Cards, the Chief Minister shared other welfare steps being taken by his government. These include:

  • Electric Wheelchairs: The government will now provide electric wheelchairs to people with disabilities and to differently-abled students, helping them move around more freely and live better lives.
  • Sehat Card Expansion: The health card program has been upgraded to cover expensive medical treatments like bone marrow transplants, kidney transplants, and liver transplants. These life-saving procedures will now be free of cost within the province.
  • Dowry Support Fund: The dowry fund, which helps poor families with marriage expenses, has been increased from Rs 20,000 to Rs 200,000. This increase will support the marriages of about 4,000 deserving girls this year.

Chief Minister Gandapur ended his speech by talking about the importance of financial independence and honest governance. He said that the government has increased its income by fixing old problems and cutting wasteful spending—without introducing any new taxes.

“Our goal is to build the kind of country that our ancestors dreamed of and gave their lives for,” he said. He promised that his administration would continue to work hard for the betterment of the people and the dignity of the nation.
