Japan Opens New Job Opportunities for Pakistanis Under Skilled Worker Program

The Japanese government has shared encouraging news for Pakistanis who dream of working in Japan. A new opportunity has been announced under the Specified Skilled Worker (SSW) program, which allows skilled foreign workers to live and work in Japan. However, there is one important condition — candidates must pass a basic Japanese language test before applying.

According to official reports, the friendly relations between Pakistan and Japan have been growing stronger in recent years. As part of this ongoing cooperation, Japan has introduced another positive step for Pakistani citizens by creating more accessible pathways for overseas employment.

To support this initiative, The Japan Foundation has officially launched the Japan Foundation Test for Basic Japanese (JFT-Basic) in Pakistan. This test is designed for those who wish to apply for Japanese work visas. It evaluates candidates’ ability to understand and communicate in simple Japanese, focusing on daily life interactions such as greetings, shopping, and asking for directions.

Officials confirmed that the JFT-Basic Test will be held in Islamabad at the Skans School of Accountancy, F-8 Markaz, on October 4, October 11, November 1, and November 8, 2025. Only 500 candidates will be allowed to participate in each session due to limited capacity.

Authorities have clarified that passing this exam is a mandatory requirement for anyone applying under Japan’s Specified Skilled Worker Program. This program enables foreign nationals to obtain legal employment in Japan in various sectors such as construction, agriculture, hospitality, healthcare, and manufacturing. Successful applicants can not only work but also reside in Japan for several years, with the possibility of extending their stay.

Experts believe this move will create new employment opportunities for young Pakistanis, especially those with technical and vocational skills. It is expected to reduce unemployment and help Pakistani workers gain international exposure and experience in Japan’s advanced industries. Moreover, this initiative will further strengthen economic and cultural ties between Pakistan and Japan, opening the door to future collaborations in education, trade, and technology.

In short, this new testing opportunity marks an important milestone for Pakistanis seeking a brighter career abroad — giving them a chance to work in Japan while learning its language and culture.
