Heatwave Alert: Schools Closed for Summer Vacation in Hot Areas

Schools Closed for Summer Vacation in Hot Areas

The School Education Department of the Government of Balochistan has officially released the schedule for long-term summer vacations in 2025. This decision applies to all public and private schools that are located in the summer zone areas of the province. The announcement has been made through a formal government notification.

The Government of Balochistan is committed to the health, safety, and well-being of students and teachers. By announcing early and extended summer holidays, the School Education Department aims to protect them from the harmful effects of extreme heat.

All schools are advised to fully cooperate with the government’s decision and strictly follow the holiday schedule. Any failure to comply with these instructions may result in disciplinary action by the education authorities.

Summer Vacation Dates Confirmed

According to the notification, the summer holidays for schools in the summer zone will begin on May 17, 2025. These schools will remain closed throughout the hot summer months and will reopen on July 31, 2025. This means students and teachers will get a long break of over two months, allowing them to rest and stay safe during the extremely hot weather in the region.

The decision to schedule early and extended holidays is based on the rising temperatures and harsh weather conditions during summer in many parts of Balochistan. The summer zone includes areas where the heat becomes unbearable and can affect the health and safety of students and school staff.

Instructions to Education Authorities

The notification clearly states that the Director of Education (Schools) and the Managing Director of the Balochistan Education Foundation (BEF) must ensure that all schools follow this summer vacation schedule. These two senior officials are responsible for making sure that every school under their supervision closes on time and reopens as scheduled. They have been asked to strictly monitor the situation and take action if any school fails to follow the orders.

Wide Distribution of the Notification

To make sure the information reaches everyone involved in the education sector, the government has also sent copies of the notification to many important offices and departments. These include:

  • The Principal Secretary to the Governor of Balochistan
  • The Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister of Balochistan
  • All Divisional Directors of Education
  • All District Education Officers (DEOs)
  • Heads of public and private schools
  • Other relevant stakeholders in the education system

This step ensures that the instructions are clearly communicated and followed across the entire province. It also helps in maintaining a uniform schedule for school holidays in all summer zone areas.

Summer vacations are important for both students and teachers. In areas with extremely high temperatures, it becomes difficult to sit in classrooms or travel to school. The long break allows children to stay home, avoid the heat, and spend more time with their families. It also gives teachers a chance to relax and prepare for the next academic session.

Parents are encouraged to keep their children engaged in light learning activities at home during the holidays. Reading books, drawing, storytelling, and educational games can help children continue learning in a fun and stress-free way.
