India’s former star bowler Harbhajan Singh said India and Pakistan Fans are emotional about cricket, when the teams lose in big events, few players are axed and he also fears that Pakistan Team Skipper Sarfraz Ahmed will lose his job.
Pakistan have been struggling in the World Cup, registering just one victory against England in five matches, while losing three of them against West Indies, Australia and India, whereas their contest against Sri Lanka was washed out.
Harbhajan Singh hopes that Pakistan start winning from now on, otherwise he believes Sarfraz Ahmed will be sacked from the role of captaincy if the Men in Green fail to advance to the semi finals of the tournament.
“I hope they start winning from here onward. But if they don’t get forward and don’t get into the semis…I know the emotions with India and Pakistan, I think he’ll lose his job. That’s what happens in India and Pakistan, when you lose a couple of guys have to go,” Singh was quoted by India Today.
Moreover, the veteran spinner seemed surprised with the news of Pakistani players hanging out just before their key clash against India on June 16th.
“I don’t know if it’s true, but if there are pictures doing the rounds then it’s not the right thing to do before the game. Especially a World Cup game against India. I hope it’s not true,” he said.
Pakistan are hoping against the hope for their qualification to the semi-final of the multi-nation cricket tournament. They will face South Africa in their next encounter on Sunday at London.
