Government Offers Up to Rs400,000 Subsidy on Electric Bikes and Three-Wheelers

Government Offers Up to Rs400,000 Subsidy on Electric Bikes and Three-Wheelers

The Ministry of Industries and Production has taken a historic step by conducting the first-ever e-balloting under the Pakistan Accelerated Vehicle Electrification (PAVE) Scheme. This program is designed to promote the use of eco-friendly electric bikes and three-wheelers across Pakistan, including Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir. The initiative aims to make green transportation affordable and accessible for citizens while reducing reliance on traditional fuel-based vehicles.

The digital balloting process was carried out in a fully secure and transparent manner. With the technical support of the Engineering Development Board (EDB), the balloting took place through the official PAVE Online Portal. A special Balloting Oversight Committee supervised the process to ensure fairness, leaving no room for doubts or irregularities.

According to the ministry’s data, a total of 269,161 people applied to benefit from this scheme. Out of these applicants, 40,000 were declared successful in the first round of e-balloting. This includes 40,000 electric motorbikes and 1,000 electric three-wheelers that will soon be distributed among the winners.

How Applicants Can Check Their Status

The government has made the process of checking results simple and convenient. Applicants can visit the PAVE portal and check their eligibility using either their CNIC number or their Application ID. Those who are successful will also receive online notifications. After that, the next steps, including subsidy disbursement, payment assistance, and vehicle delivery, will be carried out as per official procedures.

The Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) will play a key role by delivering the vehicles, ensuring proper after-sales services, and honoring warranty commitments. This ensures that beneficiaries do not face difficulties after receiving their electric vehicles.

During the ceremony, Federal Secretary for Industries and Production, Saif Anjum, officially inaugurated the e-balloting. He described the launch of the scheme as a “landmark step” in Pakistan’s journey toward clean, sustainable, and environment-friendly mobility.

Subsidy Details

To make these electric vehicles affordable, the government is offering significant subsidies:

  • For two-wheelers:
    • Rs50,000 subsidy through bank leasing.
    • Rs80,000 subsidy for self-financed purchases.
  • For three-wheelers:
    • Rs200,000 subsidy under bank leasing.
    • Rs400,000 subsidy for self-financed buyers.

This financial support will reduce the overall cost of ownership, making electric vehicles more attractive for everyday users, particularly students, delivery riders, and small business owners who rely on two or three-wheelers for their livelihood.

Broader Impact of the PAVE Scheme

Officials highlighted that the PAVE Scheme is closely linked with the National Electric Vehicle Policy (NEVP) 2025–2030. The project is not just about distributing e-bikes; it is about building a cleaner future for Pakistan. Authorities believe the scheme will help reduce air pollution, cut fuel imports, and save foreign exchange.

Moreover, it is expected to create over 100,000 green jobs in different sectors, including local manufacturing, assembling, maintenance, and charging infrastructure. By encouraging the local industry, Pakistan can also strengthen its industrial base and become more self-reliant in modern vehicle production.

In short, the first e-balloting of the PAVE Scheme is more than just a subsidy program—it is a major milestone toward clean energy, job creation, and sustainable development in the country.
