Yumna Zaidi is a well-known Pakistani actress, born on July 30, 1989, in Lahore, Pakistan. Zaidi completed her education in Lahore before moving to Karachi to pursue her passion for acting. She started her acting career in 2012 with the TV drama “Thakan”. Family and Early Life
Yumna was born and raised in Lahore, but currently lives in Texas and travels between Karachi and Lahore for work. Her father, Zameendar Zaidi, was a businessman who passed away in June 2019, while her mother, Shabana Naheed Zaidi, is a homemaker. Yumna originally from Arif Wala village in the Pakpattan district of Punjab. She holds a master’s degree in interior designing and has some prior experience in radio jockeying and hosting.
Career
Initially, Yumna Zaidi did not plan to become an actor. However, she gave acting a try on the insistence of her friend Affan Waheed. She started by playing a small role in the drama Thakan in 2012 and followed it with a leading role in Khushi Ek Roag. She then appeared in Teri Raah Main Rul Gai, Meri Dulari, and Ullu Baraye Farokht Nahi. She received a Best Supporting Actress nomination for Ullu Baraye Farokht Nahi at the Hum Awards. Her performance in Rishtay Kuch Adhooray Se won her the Hum Award for Best Actress and Best Actress Popular nominations.
Zaidi continued to appear in numerous dramas such as Mausam, Madawa, Guzaarish, Jugnoo, Kaanch Ki Guriya, Paras, and Aap ki Kaneez. In 2016, she played the lead character of Uzma Ikhtiar in Zara Yaad Kar. In 2017, she played the character of Hayat in Yeh Raha Dil and was nominated for Best on-screen couple at Hum Awards. She appeared as Sila in Dar Si Jaati Hai Sila and received critical acclaim for her role. She also appeared in Pukaar, Project Dil Kiya Karey, Inkaar, and made a special appearance in Choti Choti Batain. She had an extended cameo in Ishq Zahe Naseeb and played Raina in the telefilm Shaadi Impossible.
