Yog Japee is an Indian actor known for his character roles in Tamil cinema, as well as his work in Telugu, Malayalam, and Hindi films. He made his acting debut in Gautham Vasudev Menon’s action-drama Kaakha Kaakha (2003), followed by his Telugu debut in Gharshana (2004), the remake of the same film. Over the years, he has portrayed a variety of supporting characters, including notable roles in Billa (2007), Soodhu Kavvum (2013), Arima Nambi (2014), Kaaki Sattai (2015), Enakkul Oruvan (2015), and Jumbulingam 3D (2016). He expanded his presence to Malayalam cinema with 7th Day (2014) and made his Hindi debut with X: Past Is Present (2015).

Beyond acting, Yog Japee is a passionate theatre practitioner and the founder of Theatre Y, a Chennai-based theatre company. His work emphasizes the use of theatre as a tool for education, social awareness, and cultural development. He has collaborated with schools, colleges, and international organizations such as the British Council and the United Nations, aiming to integrate arts into mainstream education. Theatre Y focuses on empowering children and young adults through performance arts, promoting creativity, and fostering social change through experiential learning.

In recent years, Yog Japee has continued to be part of significant film projects, including his role in Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan: I (2022) and Ponniyin Selvan: II (2023). His contributions to cinema and theatre have been recognized with several accolades, including the prestigious Chevening-Clore Leadership Programme Fellowship for Cultural Leaders (2012–13), where he was one of just four scholars selected globally. His career reflects a blend of artistic versatility and dedication to cultural leadership.
