Yim Si-Wan (임시완) is a South Korean actor and singer, His real name is Im Woong-jae, He was born on 1st December 1988 in Busan, South Korea. Yim Si-Wan is known for Emergency Declaration (2022), Unlocked (2023), Honey Sweet (2023), Boston 1947 (2023), Squid Game Season 2 (2024), Squid Game Season 3 (2025) and Mantis (2025).
He made his official debut in January 2010 as the vocalist and visual of the boy group ZE:A with their first single album, Nativity. The group was originally known as Child of Empire, but Star Empire Entertainment (스타제국) later finalized the group’s name as ZE:A. However, the name quickly drew controversy due to its similarity to JeA, a member of the girl group Brown Eyed Girls. To resolve the issue, both agencies entered discussions and reached an agreement to modify ZE:A’s pronunciation to avoid confusion, allowing the group to continue under its new identity.
In 2012, he expanded into acting with a role in the popular MBC historical drama Moon Embracing the Sun (해를 품은 달), marking his official debut as an actor. Inspired by the experience, he began seriously considering acting as a long-term career and went on to appear in multiple television dramas, gradually building his presence in the acting industry.
His exclusive contract with Star Empire Entertainment expired in January 2017. Around that time, speculation about ZE:A’s disbandment surfaced. However, both the agency and the members clarified in separate statements that the group was not disbanding but was instead going on an indefinite hiatus, allowing members to pursue individual careers.
He enlisted for his mandatory military service on July 11, 2017, and was discharged on March 27, 2019. Following his military service, he signed with Plum A&C (플럼에이앤씨), where he has been focusing on his acting career, continuing to evolve as a versatile entertainer.
