Yeri is a South Korean singer and actress. Her real name is Kim Ye-rim, She was born on 5th March 1999 in Seoul, South Korea. Yeri joined the agency as a trainee and soon became part of the pre-debut team, SM Rookies. Before officially debuting, she gained attention by appearing in the music videos for Henry’s “1-4-3” and SHINee’s “Why So Serious,” showcasing her early charm and talent.
She officially joined Red Velvet in March 2015 as the group’s youngest member (maknae), sub-vocalist, and sub-rapper with the release of the extended play Ice Cream Cake. Though the group had originally debuted with four members seven months prior, SM Entertainment made the decision to add Yeri as the fifth member, believing her inclusion would strengthen the group’s dynamic. Having already trained with the other members, Yeri integrated seamlessly and quickly won fans over with her bright personality and charisma.
In addition to her music career, Yeri has expanded her presence in the entertainment industry by venturing into acting, variety shows, and hosting roles. Her versatility and engaging on-screen presence have allowed her to shine beyond the stage.
On April 4, 2025, SM Entertainment announced the expiration of Yeri’s exclusive contract but confirmed she would continue Red Velvet group activities under SM. Subsequently, on May 1, 2025, Yeri signed an exclusive contract with Blitzway Entertainment, signaling a new chapter in her solo career. Fans eagerly anticipate her next projects as she continues to evolve as both an artist and actress.
