Umera Ahmed is an is famous Pakistani writer, author, and screenwriter. She was born on 10 December 1976 in Sialkot Punjab, Pakistan. She is best known for her novels and plays Shehr-e-Zaat, Pir-e-Kamil, Zindagi Gulzar Hai, Alif, Durr-e-Shehwar, Daam, Man-o-Salwa, Qaid-e-Tanhai, Digest Writer, Maat, Kankar, Meri Zaat Zarra-e-Benishan, Doraha, and Hum Kahan Ke Sachay Thay. In the current era, Umera Ahmed is among the most widely read and popular Urdu fiction writers and screenplay writers.
Umera started her career at a very young age when she used to write stories that got published in Urdu Magazines. Her first novel ‘Zindagi Gulzar hai’ that she wrote to improve her handwriting got immense popularity, and later she started thinking about pursuing it as a profession.
Then she wrote various stories that kept on getting published in Sunday Magazines. She was forced to write something for Samina Samo, who was about to make her debut as a director in 2004.
A fantastic play she wrote later, Wujood e Laraib, won many awards, including Best Writer. Afterward, she wrote a number of dramas and transformed her novels into plays, such as ‘Darbar e Dil’ ‘Meri Zaat Zara e Benishan’ ‘La Hasil’ and others. As of at least 2007, she has only appeared on television once, when she won the ‘Best Writer Award’ for her first play, ‘Wujood e Laraib’. Since then, she has not appeared on any television shows.
In 2019 her novel ‘Alif’ also transformed into a drama serial that aired on GEO Tv. The star cast includes Sajal Ali, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Saleem Mairaj, Kubra Khan, Ahsan Khan, and others.

Umera’s father left her mother and 2 sisters and did 2nd marriage to not produce a son. Her first novel, ‘Zindagi Gulzar hai’ was somehow inspired by her personal life. Umera lived with her mother and 2 sisters. She got married to Arsam Aftab.
