Tarun Bali is an Indian director and producer. He was born in Mumbai, India. Tarun began gaining widespread recognition with the sleeper hit Vicky Donor (2012), a bold yet humorous take on sperm donation that broke taboos and opened conversations. He followed this with Madras Cafe (2013), a critically acclaimed political thriller set against the backdrop of the Sri Lankan civil war, showcasing his ability to handle serious, high-stakes narratives.
In 2018, he struck gold again with Badhaai Ho, a heartwarming comedy about an elderly couple’s unexpected pregnancy. The film was both a box office success and a cultural milestone, applauded for its fresh subject and strong performances.
