Sunil Reddy (born 30 November 1974) is an Indian actor known for his work in Tamil cinema, particularly recognized for his role as Mahaali in the film Doctor (2021). Sunil has become a familiar face in director Nelson Dilipkumar’s films, often appearing in memorable supporting roles. Before venturing into acting, Sunil worked as a presenter for his younger brother Vaibhav Reddy’s Telugu films, including Godava (2007) and Kasko (2009), both projects involving their father, veteran filmmaker A. Kodandarami Reddy.

Sunil’s breakthrough in Tamil cinema came with Seethakaathi (2018), directed by Balaji Tharaneetharan. Interestingly, Tharaneetharan discovered Sunil at a casual birthday party and, though initially finding his acting stiff, encouraged him to undergo formal acting training. His dedication paid off, with critics praising his performance in the latter portions of the film, especially highlighting a humorous scene at the Tamil Film Producers Council. His portrayal of a disgruntled actor was noted as both impressive and comedic, marking a solid debut.

Following his impactful role in Seethakaathi, director Lokesh Kanagaraj cast Sunil in Master (2021), where he joined the film’s shoot in Delhi. However, it was his portrayal of the petty criminal Mahaali in Nelson’s Doctor (2021) that brought him widespread recognition. His successful collaboration with Nelson continued as he reprised his role in Beast and featured again in Jailer (2023). Through these roles, Sunil has carved a niche for himself in Tamil cinema as a reliable supporting actor with a flair for quirky, comedic characters.
