Sunaina Yella is an Indian actress and model who primarily appears in Tamil and Telugu films. Born in April 1989 in Nagpur, Maharashtra, into a Telugu family, she was raised in Nagpur before moving to Hyderabad with her parents. Sunaina made her acting debut with the Telugu film Kumar Vs Kumari (2005), followed by her breakthrough role in 10th Class (2006). She expanded her presence with appearances in Malayalam (Best Friends, 2006) and Kannada (Gange Baare Thunge Baare, 2008) films before establishing herself in Tamil cinema with Kadhalil Vizhunthen (2008), which gained her widespread recognition.
Her career took a significant turn with Vamsam (2010), where she portrayed a village girl, followed by a critically acclaimed performance in Neerparavai (2012). The latter earned her a Filmfare Award nomination for Best Actress – Tamil. Over the years, she continued to feature in diverse projects, including Samar (2013), Vanmam (2014), and a cameo in Vijay’s Theri (2016). Sunaina balanced commercial entertainers like Nambiyaar (2016) and Kavalai Vendam (2016) with socially themed films such as Thondan (2017) and Kaali (2018).
In addition to films, Sunaina has been active in the digital space with web series like Nila Nila Odi Vaa (2018) and Chadarangam (2020). Her recent works include roles in Sillu Karupatti (2019), the comedy-horror Trip (2021), and the critically appreciated Telugu film Raja Raja Chora (2021). In 2024, she starred in the supernatural crime thriller series Inspector Rishi, further showcasing her versatility across mediums and genres.
