Stephen Harold Tobolowsky is an American character actor and writer, widely recognized for his work in both film and television. He is perhaps best known for his role as Ned Ryerson, the insurance agent in Groundhog Day, and as the amnesiac Sammy Jankis in Memento. Tobolowsky’s television credits include memorable roles such as Commissioner Hugo Jarry in Deadwood, Bob Bishop in Heroes, Sandy Ryerson in Glee, and Stu Beggs in Californication. He also portrayed Action Jack Barker in Silicon Valley, Dr. Leslie Berkowitz in One Day at a Time, Principal Earl Ball in The Goldbergs, and Dr. Schulman in The Mindy Project.

In addition to his acting career, Tobolowsky is the host of The Tobolowsky Files, a monthly audio podcast where he shares autobiographical stories of his personal and acting life. His storytelling ability extends into his writing; he has authored three books: The Dangerous Animals Club, Cautionary Tales, and My Adventures with God.
