Shinya Tamada is a Japanese film director and a member of the directing department of the renowned Japanese theater company Seinendan. He began his directing career with LUST IN A KARAOKE BOX (2019), an adaptation of the play Tamada Kikaku, which gained recognition as an official selection in the Japanese Cinema Splash section at the 31st Tokyo International Film Festival.
Tamada followed this with MY FAVORITE GIRL (2020), further establishing his voice in the Japanese independent film scene. His most recent work, I AM WHAT I AM (2022), continues his exploration of intimate human relationships and identity, solidifying his status as a distinctive auteur emerging from Japan’s theater and indie film circuits.
