Sharon Duncan-Brewster, born on February 8, 1976, is a British actress celebrated for her powerful and diverse performances across film, television, and stage. She gained wide recognition for her portrayal of Dr. Liet-Kynes in Denis Villeneuve’s epic sci-fi adaptation of Dune (2021), where her gender-swapped take on the character from Frank Herbert’s original novel was both bold and well-received.
Earlier in her career, Duncan-Brewster was known for playing Crystal Gordon in Bad Girls (1999–2002), a role that established her presence on British television. Her versatility led to numerous appearances in major UK series including EastEnders (as Trina Johnson), Doctor Who (as Maggie Cain in “The Waters of Mars”), Holby City, and Waking the Dead.
In addition to live-action work, she’s left a mark in the gaming world by portraying Catherine Hunter, the mother of protagonist Alex Hunter, in EA Sports’ FIFA: The Journey series (FIFA 17–19). Her stage credentials are also notable, especially for originating the role of “C” in Sarah Kane’s play Crave.
Duncan-Brewster’s recent roles further highlight her range: she played Senator Tynnra Pamlo in Star Wars: Rogue One and related content, a Weyland-Yutani scientist in Alien: Containment (2019), and reimagined the iconic villain Professor Moriarty in Enola Holmes 2 (2022). Her career showcases a blend of nuanced character work and genre-defying performances that continue to resonate across mediums.
