Balaji Patturaj, widely recognized by his stage name RJ Balaji, is a multifaceted Indian media personality known for his work as a radio jockey, actor, comedian, television presenter, and filmmaker. He rose to prominence as the host of several hit radio shows on 92.7 Big FM, including The Night Show with RJ Balaji and Take it Easy, with the popular prank segment Cross Talk gaining him a loyal fanbase. His quirky humor and ability to connect with the youth of Chennai helped him become one of the most well-known voices on Tamil radio.

Transitioning seamlessly into film and television, RJ Balaji has appeared in a variety of successful Tamil films such as Theeya Velai Seiyyanum Kumaru (2013), Naanum Rowdy Dhaan (2015), and LKG (2019), which marked his debut as a lead actor. He later co-directed and starred in the satirical film Mookuthi Amman (2020), and the family drama Veetla Vishesham (2022), showcasing his growing talents as a filmmaker. Apart from acting and directing, he has also served as a cricket commentator and has actively contributed to social causes, including spearheading flood relief efforts in Chennai during the 2015 South India floods.

Born and raised in Chennai, Balaji experienced a nomadic childhood, shifting schools and houses frequently. He earned a degree in Computer Science before briefly pursuing journalism, which led him to the world of radio purely by chance. Despite early setbacks—including a failed attempt at writing a basic report—he found his calling in radio hosting. His spontaneous wit, grounded personality, and relatable storytelling have made him a household name in Tamil Nadu and an influential voice in the South Indian entertainment industry.
