Rebecca O’Mara is a versatile Irish actress celebrated for her work across theatre, television, and voice acting. Born on March 15, 1977, in Dublin, she was raised in the coastal town of Sandycove and studied Drama and Theatre at Trinity College Dublin before training professionally at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA). Before committing fully to acting, she also gained experience working in film production in London.
O’Mara is widely recognized for voicing Caitlin in the beloved children’s series Thomas & Friends and for her performance as Frankie Hynes in the Irish drama Red Rock. Her screen credits also include appearances in Line of Duty, Doctors, and Jimmy’s Hall directed by Ken Loach. A prominent stage actress, she has performed extensively in both the UK and Ireland. In 2018, her acclaimed performance in Sonya Kelly’s Furniture with Druid Theatre earned her the Irish Times Theatre Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.
